Fire show in Klaipėda: four performances at St Martin's festival
On 6 and 7 November, four free Viduramžiai LT fire shows light up Klaipėda's Theatre Square. At the festival “St Martin. And His Geese”, visitors will see two theatrical programmes: Inferno and the fire and pyrotechnics show Goddess Gabija's Fire Magic. On both evenings the shows start at 19:00 and 20:15.
St Martin's festival in the port city brings together Lithuania Minor traditions, music, a lantern procession and light displays. Here fire is more than the highlight of the evening – it is a symbol of light and togetherness.
6 November – the fire play Inferno
On Friday, 6 November, at 19:00 and 20:15, the audience in Theatre Square will see Inferno – a theatrical fire show with characters, a dramatic arc and an original script, not just a string of fire tricks.
Inferno was named the best fire show in Lithuania at the competition of the fire festival “Pasaka”. It is one of the best-known Viduramžiai LT performances.
7 November – Goddess Gabija's Fire Magic
On Saturday, 7 November, at 19:00 and 20:15, Klaipėda hosts the fire and pyrotechnics show Goddess Gabija's Fire Magic. In Baltic mythology Gabija is the guardian of fire and the hearth. Fire dances and pyrotechnic effects are set to a folk-rock soundtrack.
The same evening a traditional lantern procession winds through Klaipėda's Old Town and ends in Theatre Square, so the fire show becomes part of a wider festive programme.
